Grace and Truth: The Balance in Lifestyle Evangelism

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,

and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,

full of grace and truth.”    John 1:14

Full of Grace

And Truth

John 1:14

Let your speech always be with grace

Seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Colossians 4:6

In humility correcting those who are in opposition

If God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth

that our ministry may not be blamed.

The offense of the cross

2 Corinthians 6:3

Galatians 5:11

For you, brethren, have been called to libertythrough love serve one another

Only do not use liberty as an

opportunity for the flesh

Galatians 5:13

Be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you

1 Peter 3:15

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law… that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.  Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.

Not being without law toward God,

but under law toward Christ

1st Corinthians 9:19-24

For God did not send His Son into the world

to condemn the world

But that the world through Him

might be saved

John 3:17

Neither do I condemn you

Go and sin no more

John 8:11

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

You are My friends if you do

whatever I command you

Luke 7:34

John 15:14

Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"  When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’

As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.

For I did not come to call the righteous,

but sinners, to repentance

Matthew 9:9-13
